About Us

Nothing happens by chance. Nothing is without purpose.

Maria was born and raised in the vibrant heart of Mexico City, one of the busiest and most densely populated places in the world. Yet somehow, the threads of fate carried her to Boone, North Carolina—a place where she would fall in love with the deep, whispering woods.

There, among the Appalachian forests, she discovered the enchanting work of Brian Froud, an artist whose vision would leave a lasting mark on her own. Surrounded by ancient trees and the quiet language of the forest, something awakened within her: a fascination with the hidden realm of the fae and the unseen magic woven into nature.

Captivated by these mysterious beings, Maria began to weave their world into her art—a world that remains invisible to many, but feels very real to those who know how to look.

And once again, fate carried her northward, across borders and into the vast landscapes of Canada. Here, where endless forests stretch beneath northern skies, where lakes reflect the changing seasons, and where winter blankets the land in snow and silence, she found a new kind of magic.

The long winters, the whisper of the evergreens, the soft light filtering through the trees, and the quiet transformation of the seasons became part of her world. She brought those magical beings with her, and among the forests of Canada, a little enchanted world began to take root:

La Forêt de Garmilla.

A place where the forest keeps its secrets, where the unseen has a presence, and where enchantment speaks its own language.
